I have more than twenty years of experience as a copy editor and proofreader, as well as a master’s degree in writing. I offer professionalism, good judgment, and a high degree of skill in preparing text for print or online publication.
I hold bachelor’s degrees in both English literature and mathematics from Arizona State University (where I graduated with magna cum laude honors) and a master’s degree in creative writing from the MFA Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College.
My extensive editing experience includes:
- Copy editing and stylistic editing of college textbooks
- Line editing fiction for both mass-market and literary publishers
- Copy editing marketing materials for well-respected corporate organizations
- Five years as publisher/managing editor of a literary press
I write regularly for the Globe-Miami Times, a local alternative newspaper with a quarterly print edition and online content. I recently wrote 90 percent of the copy for our local visitors guide. I also line edit JAVA, a monthly lifestyle magazine in Phoenix. I am a fiction writer and poet.
I am comfortable working with Chicago, APA, and AP styles.
I am reliable, conscientious, and sympathetic to the needs of writers, editors, and readers. I love the art and craft of the written word, and I enjoy working with clients who, like me, value clarity, accuracy, grace, and appropriateness in writing.
